Yesterday afternoon the University of Toronto Go Club competed for the CGL Championship, defeating Princeton 5-0 to advance to a final match against the University of Michigan. After five hard fought matches, we were defeated 3-2 to finish in 2nd place overall.

We were awarded a runner-up prize of $100, but we also won the respect of our peers from Colleges and Universities all over North America. I am extremely grateful to everyone who watched and participated in the CGL this year; you did an amazing job of representing our club as a strong and disciplined group of players who love the game of Go.

A special thanks goes out to William Shi Ryan Li John Yu Di Wu and Ben Mantle for their valiant efforts in the final round. I could not have asked for a better team to represent our club. Not only did you provide us with exciting matches to watch, but also inspired your teammates to come back next year with an even stronger resolve to play and win.

I want to reaffirm to all of you that I will always do my best to maintain the integrity and quality of the UofT Club in competitive play. We have an excellent group of players in our club, and it is my hope that together we can continue to strive for the best results possible.
